Privacy Policy

Short version: iLabs — Re-agents (chemistry) and Forces (physics) alike — has no accounts and no login. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal detail — the only exception is the optional feedback form, which you use only if you choose to. We use Google Analytics to see anonymous, aggregate usage (which pages are visited, roughly from where) so we know what to improve. Your browser stores a few small preferences locally. That's it. This one policy covers every subject on the site.

Who runs this site

What we collect directly

You can use every lab, quiz, game and test without giving us any personal information. We collect personal information only if you choose to create an account or to send feedback (both described below). Earning XP, taking tests and appearing on leaderboards uses an anonymous profile, which does not identify you.

Your progress, tests and leaderboards (anonymous profile)

When you earn XP, take a test or open your profile, your browser is given a random profile key. Our server stores a one-way hash of that key (not the key itself), a generated display name such as "Plucky Dolphin 24", and what you did: your XP, level, streak and badges; which labs, lessons, quizzes and games you used and when; and, for tests, your answers, score, rank and time. None of this contains your real name, e-mail address or phone number. Leaderboards show only the generated display name. If you clear your browser data and have no account, you lose access to this profile.

Accounts and sign-in (optional)

You never need an account to take a test. An account only keeps your progress on every device. If you create one we store what you give us: an e-mail address and/or a phone number, the class you study in (6 to 12, or dropper), an optional name, and a password, which we keep only as a salted one-way hash. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google tells us your name, e-mail address and a Google account id; we never see your Google password, and Google's privacy policy applies to that sign-in. We do not yet verify e-mail addresses or phone numbers. Account details are visible to you and to the site's administrator only, and are never shown to other students.

All of this is kept in a database on the server that hosts iLabs, run by the developer. It is not sold or shared, and it is used only to run these features.

The feedback form (optional)

The feedback page has a short form: a message, plus an optional name and an optional email address if you'd like a reply. It is the only place on the site that can collect personal information, and only what you type into it. When you press send, the message is passed through EmailJS, an email-delivery service, to the developer's inbox. It isn't stored in a database on this site, isn't sold or shared, and is used only to read and answer your feedback. Leave the name and email blank and we receive just your message and the page you sent it from.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate — for example, how many people open a reaction sandbox or a physics simulation, which lessons are popular, and the general country or region of visitors. This relies on cookies and similar identifiers set by Google and may include a truncated/anonymised IP address.

What your browser stores locally

The site saves a few small values in your browser's localStorage so it remembers your choices between visits. Most of these never leave your device and we cannot read them:

Fonts

The site loads a typeface from Google Fonts. When it does, your browser contacts Google's servers, which receive your IP address as part of that normal request. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

Advertising

iLabs does not currently show ads. If Google AdSense is added in the future, this section will be updated before any ad appears, and Google's advertising cookies (described in the Google Ads policy) would then apply. This page will always reflect the current state of the site.

Supporting the project ("Buy me a coffee")

There is an optional link to make a small voluntary payment. If you choose to use it, the payment is handled entirely by your own UPI or payment app and the payment provider — iLabs does not process, see, or store your payment details, and no payment is ever required to use any part of the site.

Children

iLabs is aimed at students, including those under 18. Using the labs, quizzes, games and tests needs no personal information: the anonymous profile described above does not identify anyone. An account is optional; if you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before creating one. Analytics data is anonymous and aggregate. Parents or guardians with questions, or who would like an account or profile removed, can contact the address above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Significant changes (such as introducing ads) will be made before the change takes effect on the site. Adding new subjects (this page already covers all of them, present and future) does not itself change anything here.
